The following is an excerpt from the book, "Antique

United States Miniature Books, 1690-1900", published by

"The Microbibliophile"

 

Charles Ewer (1790-1853) was a typefounder, bookseller and

publisher in Boston at least from 1817 to 1829. His partner

was Timothy Bedlington for at least the year 1822. Ewer's short

booklist contains only a few religious imprints plus the three

miniature almanacs below. He also published two more miniature

almanacs with Richardson and Lord, another Boston publishing

firm. The Miniature Almanack for 1818 is the first miniature

almanac published in the United States.
